By Rail:  The closest railway to reach Gangtok is New Jalpaiguri that is in Siliguri, which is just 148 km. After reaching Jalpaiguri, you can hire a taxi or cab to reach Pakyong, or you can also go to the Siliguri bus station and board a bus to this place. It takes around 5 to 6 hours to reach this place.

By Road: Many travelers, after getting down at the airport and the railway station would prefer to take the road to enjoy the scenic beauty of Pakyong without blinking the eyes. The journey would be amazing and memorable throughout. The best thing is that the roads are also in proper condition to have a smooth drive to Pakyong.

Note: Roadway is the only way to reach Darjeeling & Sikkim from Siliguri Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport. The total distance from Siliguri to Sikkim is 144km (5hrs).

This was constructed in the 16th century by the Karmapa. This is the pilgrimage for the Buddhists. Cephaelis Ipecacuanha is a medicinal plant that was grown in this garden during 1940. This is the plant that is brought from Malaysia to grow in India. There is a floral show that was organized by the State Government of Sikkim for the first time in the year 2008 in this garden. There is also a convention center inside this garden to hold meetings and functions. This garden is divided into many blocks. When you enter from the main gate of this garden, you find the nursery where you can see different varieties of plants, and when you come ahead, you can see the convention center. You can see the foot over the bridge under the mini pool where the surroundings are planted with plants of different shapes.

Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden: This garden is nearest to the Rumtek Monastery and is just 21 km away from Gangtok Bus station. When you visit this Monastery, you can step into this garden, to spend some time in the lap of nature. This is surrounded by lush green fillers on all sides, making you feel like the garden is covered with a green blanket. This was started in 1987. This garden is very well maintained by the Forest Department of Sikkim. You can witness the parks and garden units inside this botanical garden. There are a few rarest of rare species of flora and fauna that can be found in this place. You can visit the oak forest and adorn its beauty. The lake that is in the garden will not let you stare from its beauty. There are 50 different types of trees grown in this garden. There is also a greenhouse in this garden. This science center is the best place for children to learn new things in science. The humankind gallery that is in this science center will let you learn why humans stand out from other species on the earth and the science gallery will have fun-filled and engaging sessions for kids to learn the scientific facts. The children’s activity corner that is in this science center will take kids to the fanatic world, and the Planetarium would shed some light on the positional astronomy.
